Worship

“O God, teach me to see You, and reveal Yourself to me when I seek You…”
Ambrose of Milan, 339-397

First Presbyterian Church of Nelsonville celebrates worship at 10:30am on Sunday mornings.

Time with Children

Children are warmly welcome in our service. While we do not have a regular Sunday school hour, we have a weekly “Time with Children” short message during the service. We further want children to feel at home within the service setting, and on occasion our adults will provide activities for them during the worship hour. We regularly hold a youth gathering on Sunday evenings in which we provide games and Bible lesson enrichment. Please see “Children” under the tab “Ministries” to learn more about our life together.

Dress

People dress fairly casually in our church. Still, you may find quite a variety — some worshippers in a coat and tie or dress, others in “business casual,” and others in a t-shirt and jeans. Sunday mornings are a relaxed worship environment, and we welcome all as they come.

Parking

Parking is available in our church parking lots both east and west of the church building, and along East Washington Street.

The Lord’s Table

We typically celebrate communion on special occasions of the church year, including the First Sunday of the Lenten Season, Easter Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, Worldwide Communion Sunday, and on Christmas Eve.

Music

First Presbyterian Church of Nelsonville has a rich history of musical tradition. We are home to an historic pipe organ. More recently, our music features our beautiful piano, alongside guitars and percussion. Most Sundays, you’ll hear a variety of hymns and worship songs led by our music director and accompanying singers.
