The Nelsonville Presbyterian Farm

The Nelsonville Presbyterian Farm is located on Ohio State Route 328 just north of Union Furnace, Ohio.  A blend of deep woods, ponds and streams, open fields, and rolling hills, this three hundred fifty acre property has been a part of the fabric of First Presbyterian Church for a couple of generations.  Speak to one of our seasoned members and they’ll share how they planted pine trees with the Reverend John Lloyd Evans and the youth group on Saturdays.

Today, activity at the farm is flourishing afresh:  Youth and college students have helped build a large network of hiking trails.  Churches have brought intergenerational crews on work trips. Scouts are camping at our shelter house and children from area schools are learning about nature through field trips. A new board of community and church members is stewarding the Farm as a place for spiritual renewal, conservation, and recreation. Whether it be sitting by the pond with fishing rod and reel, taking a long hike in the back woods, or meditating quietly at the outdoor chapel, the same old charms enjoyed years ago can still be experienced now.
